More and More and MORE Snow!

When does it stop snowing in NorthEast Ohio? I say right after this snow storm. So I bundled up and took a walk around the yard so to document this final storm of the winter season. I know many of you were out snow shoveling and plowing and working, but me, well ... I got to stay in and blog and clean inside the house.

It is so beautiful out there. This beautiful white stuff was sooooo extremely heavy though. A few branches broke and many were drooping low.

I am thinking by Monday it will be allllll gone and the little purple crocus and mini white snowdrop flowers will begin to peek out. Spring is so exciting around here. I LOVE IT !

On Saturday, March 5th we were invited to see the play "Shrek" at Playhouse Square with PJ and Mario Hegelwald. Mario snatched up some tickets from his work ... thus we got to sit in the box seats.

The play had amazing sets and costumes. I couldn't take pictures after it began, but here is a pic of the stage before.

The lobby of the Palace Theatre is beautiful. It is one of five historic theatres in Cleveland's Playhouse Square. The Allen, Hanna, Ohio, State and Palace. Playhouse Square is one of Cleveland's jewels which was boarded up in the early '70s. The vision of a few community leaders became a reality when restoration began in July of 1982 and by the end of the 1980's two of the four theatres opened for business while restoration continued on the others. The last of the beauties, the Hanna was finally finished in 2008. Today, Playhouse Square's multiple performance spaces together comprise the world's largest theater restoration project and our nations's largest performing arts center outside of New York.

Rain, Sleet, Snow or Shine .. the Mail Must Go Through

February 26, 2011: Right when we were driving up our road after picking up Rob from the Cleveland airport, the mail man was trying to get everyone their mail and kept getting stuck. so Rescue-er Robby helps the mail go through! He spent the night trying to get out of Memphis, TN. Got stuck at the Memphis airport because of a tornado !!!

I mean really, who wouldn't go to this adorable, loving, chiropractor!! He is EVERYBODYS favorite guy. Brad and his family are doing an amazing job at growing up. I love, love, love, love l -o - v - e, looooovvveee going to visit. I 'get' to play on the floor, pretend and play dress-up, watch Star Wars and Princess Movies, get fed really great gourmet meals and snacks and best of all .... all the lovies and hugs I can possible get!

Miss Molly Dolly and her way cool hubby Mark RG Houx come and have Sunday dinner with us whenever we can get together. Rob and I are thankful they live in O HI O. They always contribute something yummy ... but this dessert just "takes-the-cake". Ummmmm it was so tasty. It was an Orange-Rosemary cake. Mark is always willing to help me with my (50 million) computer questions. He is patient with his mother-in-law... ! and I am thankful for him.

Been 'Skyping' with Jaime ... almost everyday! She is now living in London for a few more months and I am very thankful for video chat. Jaime is such a delight. It is fun for me to try to catch her at home after one of her great adventures. Check out Jaime's blog. Well, I have been self teaching with the assistance of a few cool genealogy webinars and podcasts such as RootsMagic and GenealogyGems. And have been working diligently to get up enough courage to share and write about my personal day to day happenings of just what I've been doing with my empty nesting life. Not quit sure exactly how to "Tweet" the electronic way. But, way before "Twitter" came along, I gave the title of this blog "Robin Tweets". I also created a Family History Blog titled: "Robin Mac Goes Back" I started it last year when Aunt Veda passed on to join her parents, brothers and sisters in heaven. ...They were such a FUN group of siblings to watch!

You know how people will say this is my "stupid dog" or "stupid cat". Well this is my "cat". And she would be stupid only because I have to take the time to feed her and let her outside and occasionally clean up some 'hair-ball'. ewwwwww! But actually, she is my winter companion while the house is only me during the day or when Rob is away. So, I do appreciate her. But while I was visiting California in February, Kerri-Kitty's cat care giver, Molly ... needed to make sure 'stupid cat' wasn't getting to bored so she bought her some fish to watch. So, now I am spending some time trying to keep the fish happy ... can't they keep their own fish bowl clean? Feed themselves? .. Come ON now ...

Love the Fall season. I set out pumpkins, gourds and mums before Robs parents came to visit and then we took off the next day for Charleston, SC for a week now I am in Pasadena, CA in the "peaceful" Weston Hotel catching up on a lot of "desk/laptop" stuff. Came across this picture I sent to Rob in an email right after I autumnized the deck. hummmmm it is good to see it at least via picture. I wonder if the squirrels have gotten fat eating them yet? On Friday, we get to go on up to Northern Calif and visit Beverly and my GRANDBABIES and kids!!!!!

Hello to my blog. This has been a lovely summer for Rob and I. We love the woods out back. And are so happy to have Molly and Mark so close by. It is however, sad to be missing sooooo much little growing up times of our Galla, Finn, Conner and Paisley! We are proud of our four adult children! They are all so successful and progressing so much. This is Labor Day weekend and we are getting ready for fall. Rob has been getting all the flowerbeds ready for new plantings.

Rob and I are really blessed with good endearing friends !! We have a lot of FOR-EVVV-ERRR friends. Some beloved friends are from Fresno, California. Some from SLC, Tooele, South Jordan and American Fork, Utah. We miss and think about our eternal Turlock family and friends a lot!!! We have dear, heartfelt forever friends in Fairview Park and Sandusky, Ohio ...along with Westlake, Lakewood and Bay.... We have binding friendships in our not-so-new Lorain Ward. We cherish and miss our forever friends in England and Scotland. Last month, our ol' pals Scott and Alison Parkinson came bearing tickets to the U of U / Michigan game. We had a blast ... We were in our 20's again.

And what a treat to finally get to go to Chicago. It was the MOST scariest thing I have done since performing on stage and teaching seminary for the first time ever!!!! It was my first Student Band Tour as the TD (tour director). But I was so completely and totally not by myself. I felt the prayers of loved ones being answered continually. The best part was when I received a call from Ryan giving me the Joyful sounds of his newborn baby boy crying on the other end of the phone. He called right before I was to give my first tour! So sweet. Then right when the final bus drove out around the corner out of site on my last day, Rob called and pulled up in front of Navy Pier in a taxi looking for me. ... Whoo Hoo, we had a lovely lunch on lake Michigan and then got to drive home together in the Audi with the top down and had a great afternoon together catching up after being apart for two weeks!!!!

Now we are enjoying the "new green" in Avon Lake, O-HI-O ... anticipating the time we get to go hold our new grandbaby Conner the end of the month. He will be blessed on June 2nd and joined by his boy cuzin, Finn and Uncle Bradley. It will be so way cool to have the brothers together with their sons!

Did a little Tour Directing in St. Louis and in Chicago. The Arch in St. Louis was so amazing. I loved seeing it and enjoying the Mississippi River at flood point. It was just so amazing to learn more US History.

CONNER RYAN FALKE

The miracle of birth has come into our lives once again. Baby Conner was born to Stephanie and Ryan on April 30, 2008 at 11:16 am in the Loma Linda University Hospital. He weighed 8 lbs. 7 oz. and is 20" long. He is just so precious and such a joy to their family!

This makes Grandbaby #3 for Rob and I. We LOVE being Mimi and Opa just sooooooooooo very, VERY much! Oh, and he was born on April 30, 2008 at 11:16 am in the Loma Linda University Hospital. He weighed 8lbs. 7 oz. and was 20". Ryan called joyfully crying saying Conner is "perfect and has great skin" and "a dimple on the top of his bum".

And, I think they are totally overlooking the fact that little sleep and constant feedings and changings are just the way it is and they love it!

SPRING FLOWERS AND NEW BABIES

YEAH !!!! NO SNOW!! Lovin' those daffodils and Rob was out hanging planters with Geraniums in the front entrance this weekend. Geraniums remind me of a smell when I was a little kid. Grandmas and fun. I also loved Gigi's Camilia bushes and Liliacs. It was alway fun for me to be there on a really hot afternoon and get to water her rose bushes!!!! I loved it. We are so ready for color to be all over the place. Pretty soon we will be seeing green, green and more green. I love the woods of Cleveland. ...ahhh The Emerald Necklace... I hope Rob and I get to have grandbabies come visit this summer. Anytime is great for us!!!

SO SPRING WILL ALSO BRING NEW BABIES!!! We are so totally excited for the birth of Conner next week! And then his blessing on June 1st where the generations of Priesthood will be there! And then "Little Girl" will be born around June 12th. YEAH for that great event as well! Bless you Stephanie and Mayliln! More pictures to come with these little ones and their siblings soon!

Hunter Needs a Home

Our good neighbor Mike rescues puppies and found "Hunter" and the rest of his brothers and sisters all tied up by their back legs, which were all broken, so they couldn't escape! So the cutie-patuti puppy he had for a walk today is so frisky and fun and just waiting for a loving home. I was outside taking pictures of our daffodils and thought what a great place for even more cool people to see this little guy up for adoption! He is a purebread hunting dog and wants only to be a purebread family pet. If anyone knows anyone who is interested in this adorable guy let me know.

Yea!!!! I got to spend a couple of days with Molly and Jaime last weekend in Utah. We all meant there after Shelli Geilmanns wedding. Jaime was one of Shelli's bridesmaids and Molly caught up with us later that night. So, we girls got to enjoy our togetherness, shopping in SLC ... all day ..., going to the movies and eating some yummy junk food. And then fwe got to enjoy Scotty Mac's family talent show! That was the highlight for me. We were sad though that we missed cuzin Kylies Ballroom show at BYU ... but we just ran out of free time before the girls were off to the airport. I miss my little girlfriends. They are amazing and incredibly way cool.

Thanks girls for being my friends and full of life and love.

Galla and I were enjoying our time together, when suddenly Bradley takes our picture. Galla just does not like to pose or look or smile for the camera. We can't figure it out, but we do have so much fun with her. She is a totak cutie and a wonderful older sister. I loved playing with her and being friends. It is the BEST being a grandma!!!!

Now, after Brad and Maylin came back home I was able to "check-in" to the View Point Inn right up the mountain and take a day of rest. Actually, I was stuck up there because I didn't have a car and it was so much fun being waited on by a staff of five. The hotel was closed for a couple of days, but let me stay there ... Yes, we paid. So, I was able to talk with all of them and find out about their lives ... they then made sure I came back for dinner on Thursday Night for a meal specially prepared by their famous Chef, Matt Crone and my guests. So Rob, Brad, Maylin and myself enjoyed the most beautiful view in all of the Portland area while being served the most amazing seven course gourmet meal ever. Matt even went out and picked stinging nettle right when we got there to make this amazing steamed nettle/copacolla/garlic vegetable appetizer I have ever eaten. It was such a treat. The room I stayed in was the view of all views. Rob worked the entire time and so I just had it to myself while waiting for Brad, Maylin and the kids to come on up the mountain to visit and then wisk me away for fun and just hangin out with my wonderful, adorable grandbabies.

This is the North West coast of Ireland. Our ancestors wondered around here. Rob and I got to go visit here last summer. It was an amazing family searching holiday!

This is my dad, Billy Joe McCleskey. Yes he was born in Texas to Irish parents who probably would of named him William Joseph McCleskey (after his grandfathers) if they just plain ol' were not poor southern folk! So green Irish hats off to all of my fun "Smiling Irish Eyes" McCleskey kin! I did get my spririt of entertaining from Billy Joe. He always wanted to have a party and entertain for everyone and it was always sooooooooooooooo yummy! Thanks dad for your contributions to all of us. This song is to you dad ... I remember you singing this ... and I miss you....

Usually when I wake up in the morning and open my curtains and see this, I think OK .. it is soooo pretty. But COME ON... it's March ... I'm ready to fly kites, not shovel the 3 foot snow boulders the city snow plower left in our driveway entrance!!! Tomorrow, I am just going to go out there an build a snowman. One time Jaime built a snowwoman in the back yard...just for MacKay... (inside joke). You know what though? I am so thankful for my cozy little cottage in the woods. And I did see a rabbit hopping by out of the wood pile a couple of days ago. But, it was getting chassed by a beautiful red-chested hawk... not a hunter. And, I really enjoy feeding the little varments that hang out in the woods. I love to hear the birds songs on a quite snowy day. Oh, and tonight we had an emergcy broadcast across the TV telling us that our county was on a "boil water alert". The water is so nasty anyway to drink... We only drink bottled water as is. But last night we had an ice storm, and then I scooped up a few glasses of snowy-ice and saved them until they melted... and ummmmm it was so good.

Chef Jack’s Corn Chowder
Paula Dean

1 cup (2 sticks) butter
1 small onion, diced
1 small carrot, finely diced
1 small celery stalk, diced
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
3 cups white corn kernels, fresh or frozen
3 cups chicken stock
2 cups half-and-half
Pinch freshly grated nutmeg Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Melt 1 stick of butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion, carrot, celery, and garlic, and saute for 2 minutes. Add the flour and stir to make a roux. Cook until the roux is lightly browned; set aside to cool to room temperature.
Meanwhile, combine the corn and chicken stock in another saucepan, and bring to a boil. Simmer for 10 minutes. Pour the boiling stock with the corn (a little at a time) into the saucepan with the roux, whisking briskly so it doesn't lump. Return the skillet to the heat and bring to a boil. The mixture should become very thick.
In a small saucepan, gently heat the half-and-half; stir it into the thick corn mixture. Add the nutmeg and salt and pepper, to taste. Just before serving, cut the remaining stick of butter into large chunks. Add it to enrich the soup, stirring until the butter melts

Comfort Food

There it is ummmmm, warm soup!!! This is corn chowder to be exact. Last Wednesday around noon I decided I needed to have some old and new friends over for lunch next day. So, I invited a small but mighty bunch over for some warm soup and company if they felt they could weather the 11 degree snowy day. And guess what? They all showed up! I enjoyed them in my home so much. It is so comforting to have wonderful, kind, talented, smart, beautiful and fun friends! It was a real treat for me.

While on the subject of comfort foods I am totally thinking of mamaws yummy warm tapioca pudding in the big yellow bowl, and Ruth Fortados pound cake. Do you have special comfort foods?

At the beginning of February, Rob and I got to visit Eric and Jaime in Boulder. We had fun seeing how they are living and enjoying their lives. Eric has turned their office closet into his new sound studio. I think if anyone actually reads this blog you will really enjoy taking the time to hook onto their Blog, put on your headphones and listen to Erics latest songs he has wrote and sings. whoooo hooooo Eric. And Jaime, you make some really mean banana pancakes with orange syrup. You and Annie keep everyone walking all day long if Annie had her way. I think I am ready to come back and hike up Iron Flats for at least 1/8th of it !!!

So, I thought maybe you loved ones sitting around the pools in California there in the sunshine playing your tennis, walking the canal, golfing, or even taking blossom walks are really missing this seasons' visit to us! Yes, it is 5 degrees as I am entering this post. I do realize this doesn't help any of my efforts to get any of you to move here, but you can purchase a really big fine and nice 6 bedroom house with everything for probably $400.00 or less. And with that comes the most fun and loving Mimi and Opa ever! Ready and willing to babysit anytime. Great hikes and biking trails ... graffitti free and pretty much gang free! Just be watching for the amazing spring, summer and autumn pictures too. I love you all a lot!!!

This is me with mini-me! Well at least some of Jaime is me! We had fun shopping for new jeans at "Nordstrom" ... uttthummm ... Jaime made the most yummy banana waffles with a really yummy orange syrup. That last part is NOT mini-me. She likes to cook all the time!!! Eric, Jaime, Rob and I loved walking to view the Flat Irons a little closer. They were amazing! Truly Amazing. I am so excited to go back and visit when there are leaves on the trees.

Happy Birthdays go out to a lot of you .... and I know this doesn't make up for money magazines, gifts, cards, etc. But Big Happy Days to my Stephanie .... Way back on Jan 23rd, and to Saundra Mathias TODAY, and Marissa Romans and Steve Weight on Feb 6th ... woooo whooo Big 50 for Steve! and then there is Ryan .... WOW POW ... really 29 on Feb 7th! And our Maylin on the 11th of Feb will be celebrating. And Happy Birthday to Aunt Veda. I love her! She is the Matriarch of the McCleskeys now!

I love Valentines Day... because I love Pink and Red and lace and doilies! And I love valentines! They are just so feminine. And I love chocolates, and roses picked from someones garden. I am thinking Rob has taught his boys the joys of giving Valentines to their sweethearts!

So for you "Out West" family and friends, I am attempting to put some pics of our remodeled Bedroom and Bathrooms on here.

Thanks so much to my friend Emily Musso for saving the "comments" button on this blog ... I was just about to make a new one. It would have less rrrrr's. (just roll your tongue). So, this is the beginner version --- STILL.

Right now I am watching "Grease" on TV and ... it is naughty ... I just didn't remember it being so full of "Rizo Kicks". ... I like the part where Sandy sings "Hopelessly Devoted" on her friends front porch in her long-sleeve high-neck white night gown. And that Danny Zuko is such a hottie. ... I can say hottie !!!!

Wow Pow! We had so much fun at the beach house in Santa Cruz !!!! Being together with all the family is the greatest! Rob and I loved every minute!! Jaime found someone who will play a game with her pretty much anytime ... thanks Maylin !!!! We do all owe Eric an adventure kyaking and/or hiking next time though! He was so good to go to William Sonoma and In-n-Out instead. Miss Molly's Mark came along and was very tolerant to put up with the noise and quirks of all. It was so amazing to see Brad at his best - A really great dad and chef! And, so maybe we can all do a jog-a-long with Maylin next time too! Stephanie did great hiding her migrane all day and was such a team player on game night! Thank goodness Ryan brought along his great sense of humor, dental floss and dog and was full of fun! Wii all had so much fun!

Rob and I loved being woke up early each morning ready to take Galla and Finn so the rest could sleep in a little longer.

Hellooooo
This is a genuine real effort to make this blog happen. Hopefully it will serve as my attempt to share some important events and happenings to you from me. To think that someone out there just might want to know what is happening with Rob and me while hanging out here in Avon Lake.

Well I'll tell ya. It's been all about remodeling since August. See pictures ... Ahhhhhh !!!!! Although, Rob was able to get me out and away from this icky adventure to more fun family stuff. See more pictures. Yessssss !!!

But, tomorrow or maybe Tuesday, I will be posting some more pictures of remodel good progresses.

And one of the best of all news is Molly is going to go to the Temple for the first time this Wednesday. What a great thing.

And you know what else is great? Grandbabies ... Galla, Finn, little Steph or Ry (in May) and another little Brad or May in June !!!! Yeah... Robin and Rob 4 Grandkids!
